After two years of practicing table tennis and taking lessons here and there at another club, I got a referral to Chen Wang's club. I wouldn't say I'm a beginnerβI had picked up some fragmented skills, but some of them were wrong. In my very first lesson with Chen, I realized what an expert coach truly is: she observed me playing, then systematically corrected my old bad habits with a personalized approach. That was incredibly valuable to me. Even the most subtle movements in my strokes don't escape herβshe catches them out of the corner of her eye and points them out on the spot. Her coaching focuses on extremely specific details, which gradually built a solid foundation for me. She kept reinforcing these corrections throughout each session because my bad habits were deeply ingrainedβI needed extra time to rewire them and establish correct, new muscle memory. One Day Training Summary: Continued practicing backhand strokes from inside to outside, and focused on tracking backhand returns to transition to forehand. I placed more attention on my backhand side. If the opponent hits to my forehand, my reaction speed is quicker than with backhand. This principle is similar to receivi

Wang Chen Table Tennis Club is, without exaggeration, the gem of the New York table tennis scene. Wang Chen herself is a world-class coach in every sense: clear, effective, and remarkably able to meet players exactly where they are, whether youβre picking up a paddle for the first time or sharpening a competitive game. Since I started taking lessons and playing here, my game has improved dramatically, and not by accident. Her instruction is precise, structured, and genuinely transformative. Beyond the technical side, sheβs friendly, funny, and has a real gift for building community. She introduces players to one another and turns what could be a solitary sport into something social and welcoming. The atmosphere reflects that warmth from the moment you walk in. The facilities are excellent, with plenty of tables and room to play, and the club has incredible access to premier table tennis opportunities and connections across the world that you simply wonβt find elsewhere. It is the crown jewel of New York table tennis. If youβre serious about improving, or just want to fall in love with the sport, this is the place. Highest possible recommendation.

Great coach, great place to learn how to play table tennis/ping pong. You rarely get any chance to learn from a retired member of the Chinese National Team elsewhere. Wang Chen has also represented USA at the Olympics

I've been taking lessons with Coach Wang for half a year now and have seen real improvements in my game. She competed at the highest levels of table tennis, including both the Chinese and the U.S. National Teams, and her experience really shows in the training. The sessions are intense, fast-paced, and focused on drills that translate well to actual match play. If you're serious about improving and enjoy being pushed during practice, I'd definitely recommend training with her.

Fantastic teacher! I played table tennis as a kid. I came back to it as an adult and Chen has taught me how to play the way a modern player does today. She is a patient and understanding teacher and warm and fun person. It is kind of amazing to hit with a former Olympic athlete. If you want to learn how to play the βrightβ way I highly recommend.
